Can you believe it?

I stayed cool the whole time, but my normally calm and collected Jana was dancing around the house, singing "we're number 4, maybe number 3, weshouldgiveJulieatAGCImycellnumberinsteadofyours!"

Yes, we should, because if I got the call, I wouldn't know all the questions to ask. Jana would be thoroughly disappointed by my (lack of) details. I'm lucky to find out if someone had a boy or girl; it's usually just "so and so had their baby...no, I don't know the gender/weight/height/astrological sign..."

Easter was great. The girls weren't feeling well, so much to the dismay of the row behind us, they came to the main service rather than Sunday School. Actually, they did awesome. Majil asked, "When are the VeggieTales comin' out?" because the last time she was in the auditorium was for the VeggieTales concert.


Please pray for our little Ethiopian...we're excited to see some movement on the list. We hope to be matched with her soon. Pray for a healthy baby girl and for Paisley and Majil's hearts to be ready. They're really excited now; they always give each other random things around the house and say, "Here! This is from our new sister!"

Jana asked Paisley if she'd be a good mommy to 3 girls. Paisley's response:

"Mom, you'll be crack-a-lackin'!"

Needless to say, we saw Madagascar 2 last night for family night.

Wow, it has been a long time. Supa slacker over here.

New numbers! We moved forward, then back two spots (sad circumstances), but now we're finally moving forward. A referral went out today, which makes us 8 I think.


Lots going on with us. We went to Disneyland with my (Chris') parents; it was tons of fun. We were there for 3 days, and had just started to get things figured out!

The girls favorites were meeting Tinkerbell and lunch with the Princesses. Awesome.




Mae picked out an awesome hat too.



I have been reading a book: Choosing to Cheat, by Andy Stanley. It's about cheating work to be home with family rather than vice-versa. Long story short; I made a decision to make my family the priority and prayed the Lord would show me how. About two days later, I was approached about a new position with better hours, better benefits, and better pay. God is amazing....

So, that's what's new with us! If anyone is still reading....thanks for not giving up on us!

New Numbers!

Is anyone out there? I don't blame you; it's been a while since we've updated. Lots going on here. Our February official:

Pretty exciting, since this Friday is Friday the 13th...we don't believe in superstition, so no problem. However, we have had two fortunate families get referrals (one for sure, Kristi J, had a referral of a baby girl today!) and from everyone else's numbers, there must have been another referral. SO, our "probable number":


Not as much movement as last month, but we're headed in the right direction. Very exciting.

A few weeks ago, we met another lovely family adopting from Ethiopia, only one spot behind us on the waiting list. We had dinner with Bill, Missy, Tate, Em, and Jack, originators of Team Kollar. They served us a wonderful supper and we had great conversation. Lord willing, we'll receive referrals and court dates together so we have friendly faces when we travel! They're out in the world doing great work for Campus Crusade. Very cool.

As far as boring and uninteresting news; our good friends were getting rid of their king-size bed and offered it to us. Now, I'm not complaining, but we've had the....er....luxury....of sleeping in a full size bed since we got married. I don't know why they call it "full-size", unless they're referring to when Jana and one child are in the bed together, it is "full". Not that having 4 inches of mattress during a thunderstorm is, say...uncomfortable for me...but "full size" sounds like it'd have ample space for two adults and a small child. Now, this king-size bed is something else. I was thrilled to return from Walmart (only place open at 9:00 when you realize you don't own sheets to cover a bed the size of West Virginia) and found my lovely bride and both kids in the bed...WITH ROOM FOR ME, and...if that's not enough, room for another child, say, from Ethiopia. Pretty sweet.

That night, Paisley had a nightmare, and upon returning from her room, I noticed something peculiar: Jana and I had our pillows overlapping and were crammed together in the middle of the bed. The next morning, she said: "See, we don't need that big bed, let's get our full sized bed back out."

I took a deep breath, cracked my back one last time, and said "Let's give it one more night."

That night, I was lonely off by myself on my side of the big bed. We're thinking about moving the full sized bed back in. Just kidding. At least I think she is...

Waitlist update and fingerprints!

We're officially number 20!!! That is great in itself....but, after Jana's promotion from blogstalker to SuperSleuth, we may actually be:


So, several referrals have gone out, so if you are reading this and know more than me (hmm...most people on here!) correct me if I'm wrong. So these referrals aren't "official" until the next update...but at the moment, this is probably where we stand! Amen!

ALSO, we've been waiting for one more thing....our USCIS fingerprint appointment! It finally came today. If we can't make the date, it gets rescheduled who-knows-when. Fortunately, it was scheduled for a day I have off of work! God is so awesome...perfectly orchestrated. We love Him.

So we go up to get our fingerprints one last time. Jana was going to use hers from when she was caught streaking at the Backstreet Boys Reunion Concert, but I told her they needed to be newer than that.



Just kidding...Jana doesn't think that's funny either.

So the holidays interfered with blogging....not that we're the best bloggers anyway. I respect those people who can be witty and resourceful and actually write something that people want to read every other day! Way to go, BlogStars!

Go ahead; pick one...okay, two numbers. Somewhere between 1 and 23. That's about what we know for sure right now.

So, no updates yet....we do know there have been a spectacular number of referrals recently, probably putting us in the teens on the girl waitlist. Jana is an excellent blogstalker....which is a slippery slope: it sometimes causes more confusion, but she's determined to figure out where we are on the waiting list. We're so excited to meet our little girl!

Christmas was excellent this year. We had a great time. Paisley and Majil really enjoyed themselves. The best part was seeing Paisley comprehend the reason for Christmas and getting just as much enjoyment GIVING gifts as she did receiving them. I am a proud papa.

Yep, those are matching pajamas. We rocked 'em right away.

They're still singing Away in a Manger...like, right now. At 10:30 p.m. Mind you, they've been in bed since 7:30. But when I go upstairs to quiet them down, Paisley says "But Daddy, we're praising JESUS!" Go ahead and sing until your tired little self lands on the pillow, sweetheart. Just be sure to harmonize with your sister....gotta figure out somehow to put your mom and I through retirement...
